| Baton Twirling Classes Introduction to Baton Twirling: Baton I Ages 5-8 ("In School" Classes Kindergarten-8th Grade) In this introductory class, students will learn baton terminology and basic twirling skills while developing hand-eye coordination and wrist flexibility. Basic strut is introduced with emphasis on proper form and hand placement. Students will also learn simple dance twirl combinations as well as parade and recital routines. Beginning/Intermediate Baton Twirling: Baton II Ages 7-12 Skills learned in "Intro to Baton" are built upon in this class. Hand twirls, rolls and tosses are explored more deeply. A variety of catches and releases are introduced. Students will continue basic strut training and will begin to practice individualized solo routines, pageant modeling, partnering, and teamwork. Dance twirl combinations as well as parade and recital routines are also learned. Intermediate/Advanced Baton Twirling: Baton III Ages 10+ Students will continue to build upon skills learned in previous classes. More advanced hand twirls, rolls, and tosses are introduced, including continuous elbows, multiple spins and illusions. Emphasis will be placed on increasing flexibility and perfecting body placement. X-Strut is introduced. Students will continue solo work as well as dance twirl and parade routines. This class will prepare the student for competitive baton twirling. Dance Classes Creative Movement Ages 2-3 This fun class offers the little dancer not only a way to channel their energy, but also helps develop their motor skills while stimulating their imagination and promoting creativity. This class is an introduction to pre-ballet. Very basic ballet terms will be introduced as well as elementary baton twirling skills. Combo Dance Ages 3-4, Ages 5-8, & Ages 7-12 Our combo dance classes teach the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz. In these introductory classes, correct technique and the use of French vocabulary is applied; however, focus is placed on having fun while learning short combinations, self expression and becoming familiar with the structure of a dance class. Beginning/Intermediate Ballet: Ballet II Ages 14 & Under This class emphasizes the development of classical ballet skills with a focus on proper placement and alignment. Students continue to learn ballet vocabulary through barre, center work and across the floors while building grace, balance, strength, and flexibility. Beginning/Intermediate Jazz: Jazz II Ages 14 & Under This class is a combination of musical theatre, lyrical and contemporary styles of Jazz. Students begin class with a center floor warm-up, followed by across the floor combinations including leaps and turns. Focus is placed on the development of coordination, precision, agility, and increased flexibility. Class is ended with combinations that will help develop rhythm and musicality. Beginning/Intermediate Tap: Tap II Ages 14 & Under This class emphasizes the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology, highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound coordination skills. Students will learn technique, rhythm and timing in combinations at center and across the floor. Daddy/Daughter Ages 5-10 This fun oriented class is design with family bonding in mind. Daddies and daughters alike will have a blast learning new dance steps and a routine for the recital. Private Instruction Available Please see registration form for tuition details. |
